Moved a Guest VM from RHEL6 Server to a New RHEL8 Server and Network Interface Not Found Error

Post by dbaslm »

I have several VMs on a RHEL6 server that I have relocated to a new RHEL8 server.

On starting the Guest VMs I get a message saying the following physical network interfaces were not found

em1 (adapter 1)

In the RHEL6 host the network interface adapter is indeed called em1.

In the new RHEL8 host the network interface adapter is called eno2.

Is there an easy fix for this?

Sure there is. Just change the VM setting to bridge the virtual network card to a host NIC that exists.
