Hi,
Recently I started having an annoying problem related to my virtual machines.
I work on Ubuntu 20.04, and sometimes, for X reason, my machine and computer half-freeze.
What I mean by half-freeze is that my mouse still works and can reach for the second screen containing another application (Firefox for example), but I cannot click on anything. I can't close the application or use it, as if my clicks are ignored. My VM also half-freezes, because I can click in it, but I can't type or anything. When I try to close it properly by shutting it down, the window to select the type of shutdown appears, but I can't click 'ok' to close it.
So far my solution was to kill it via the system monitor, everything comes back to normal. However it gets annoying, especially since it happens multiple times at random moments.
I mainly work on Java projects in the VM, I don't know it it is related to anything, but usually it seems to half-freeze after a couple of runs.
Here are the specs
VB: 6.1.32
VM
OS: Fedora 35 64bit
RAM: ~12GB
CPU: 8 cors
Physical Machine
CPU: Radeon ryzen 9 5900
RAM: 32 GB
OS: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
Here is a log file before the last half-freeze.

Zip your log and attach it directly here, we do not like to see offsite links but you can attach files from day 1.

Re: VirtualBox on Ubuntu 20.04 half-freezes
You only have 16MB graphics RAM allocated - not really enough for a fullHD display, and your host isn't exactly short of RAM. Increase graphics RAM to 128MB.
Does this VM really need 8 cores, i.e. is it doing a lot of stuff in parallel? Note that idle cores slow a VM down since there's a maintenance overhead that's there whether the core is doing useful work or not. 2 cores is usually the sweet spot.
Also, you have 6.0.0 Guest Additions installed. That is ancient. Please update.
You could also install the host extension pack.

Wow, thanks, I just learned a couple of things about VM. Thank you.
I will give a run with the suggested settings and I will see.
Thanks again.

Just to keep up to date, everything seemed fine wile I worked with the VM.
I think maybe the display memory was not enough.

Hi,
I too am also having this issue! I have Ubunut 22.04 installed as the host and Arch as the virtual. 2 of the 4 processors 128MB graphics latest addons installed (i think) but I get the same symptoms. after a couple minutes in the VM the mouse clicks stop working if I alt-tab away from the VM the google chrome browser on Ubuntu (host) also does not respond to mouse clicks. If I force the VM to power off all returns to normal.
I did see somewhere in the log file "00:02:54.634846 VUSB: Detached 'HidMouse' from port 1 on RootHub#0" which doesn't seem right but not sure what to do to correct it
Any suggestions of help would be greatly appreciated, my log file is attached as a .zip.
