Guru Meditation Critical Error

Post by virtdwell »

VB 6.1 (currently Version 6.1.22 r144080 (Qt5.12.8)) has been working fine on Ubuntu Mate (20.04.3 LTS) for some time now without problems. Today I get "Guru Meditation Critical Error" with every VM immediately on starting them.
PC Spec: Memory: 15.5 GiB, Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4690 CPU @ 3.50GHz × 4, Graphics: Mesa DRI Intel® HD Graphics 4600 (HSW GT2)
I've looked in the log files but they don't mean anything to me. I have attached the log file and png from 2 of the VM's (the errors seem different). Any help would be much appreciated.

The problem is well known. You need to upgrade VirtualBox to >6.1.24 to use your new (5.13) Linux kernel. You are on 6.1.22, the current version is 6.1.32.

Remember to update the Guest Additions and Extension Pack too.

Thanks mpack, that did the trick. I downloaded and installed "virtualbox-6.1_6.1.32-149290~Ubuntu~eoan_amd64.deb" and then "Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-6.1.32.vbox-extpack" and all is well :D
