Error when renaming VM, need help.

Post by Guillaume Soucy »

Hello,

I need to rename a VM and its .vdi file(s). I notice that the .vdi file wasn’t renamed by itself.

After renaming that .vdi file, it tell that in the GUI “inaccessible”, when trying to change it in the GUI by selecting the renamed one, I’d ran into error:

How to rename a VM and also its attached .vdi file(s)?

Thank-you,

Guillaume

Rename the disk file back to what it was as shown in the first screenshot, so it's not inaccessible anymore.

Then go to the File menu, Virtualbox Media Manager. Select the disk file in the list.

In the Attributes tab, Location textbox, rename the file as desired. Click Apply.

The disk file should now be renamed and still accessible.
