All such inquiries should have a posted vbox.log.
Start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM's OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.
Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip it, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

Thanks for your advice.
The final step of following YouTube video solves my problem;
Fix VirtualBox Windows 10 resolution 1920x1080 or 4k (Outdated Video, Read Video Description)

I already have guest addition installed

On Win 10 VM
-> File -> Preferences -> Display
Maximum Guest Screen Size: [Hint ]
Width: [3860 ]
Height: [2160 ]
-> OK
Restart Win 10 VM

Are you sure that wasn't:satimis wrote:On Win 10 VM

There is no setting in a VM's Display settings to limit the screen soze, but there is such a setting in the main Virtualbox window.In the main Virtualbox window
-> File -> Preferences -> Display
Also, does setting "Maximum Guest Screen Size" to None achieve the same result?
Re: (Solved) Win 10 VM uable to set 4K resolution
I haven't tried None before. I selected Hint following the YouTube videoscottgus1 wrote: - snip -

Original screen size:
Width: 640
Height: 480
The screen of all Win 10 VMs (there are 5) looked very small. I couldn't increase the screen size with mouse.
Now I can adjust Win 10 VM screen with mouse to any size, even to full screen of my Dell 32" 4K display.
