No changes to settings are allowed

Post by mrzenwiz »

I'm running Xubuntu 21.10 on a brand new CPU/mobo/RAM combination and I'm getting the error in the attached screenshot.

The problem is that there is no such setting in the Systems Acceleration tab, and no matter what I change, nothing sticks - the OK button is always grayed out.

What is going on here?

FYI: CPU Ryzen 9 5950, 32Gb RAM, ASUS X570 Pro m/b.

The error message is outdated and will be altered soon. It means your computer's Virtualization Technology is turned off. See I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests

I enabled virtualization in the BIOS and VB noew works - sort of.

My Windows 10 VM won't come up. It wouldn't even come up far enough to run the guest additions, and now it just hangs with a black screen on the way up.

Not sure where to go from here.

Thanks.

Glad you got the Virtualization switched on.

The problem with the VM is a subject for a new topic, per "One issue per thread".

On the new topic please post a log:

Start the VM from full power off, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.

Please right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show Log. Save the far left tab's log, zip the log file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
