Scale a Windows 10 VM up to the whole monitor size

Post by PrivacyGuard »

Hello :-),

I'm using Debian 10 as host and have a Windows 10 VM running in VB 6.1.26 r145957 (Qt 5.11.3).
At the moment my VM is perhaps so large as a quarter of the monitor size. Is it possible to scale the Windows VM up to the whole monitor size?

TIA
Michael

Scaling is in the VM menu, but it would be a poor solution. Better would be to make the display size bigger, using one of the View|Virtual Screen 1|Resize to www x hhh menu options. If those options are grayed out it's because you didn't install the Guest Additions yet (see chapter 4).

Hello mpack :-),

thank you very much for your fast reply!
It works :-). I turned it up to 200% and now my monitor is fullsized. It's really great :-)!

Best

Well yes, that will "work" - somewhat - but it will makes the display blurry and isn't necessary with a modern guest OS. Just do what I said: install the GAs and make the guest display size bigger. If the Windows desktop icons are too small (e.g. 32x32 on a 4K monitor) then make then bigger using ctrl+<mouse scroll wheel>.
