Can't access USB drives on Fedora 34 host and Windows 10 guest

Post by Feddie »

I've been searching through this forum a long time and I've tried several proposed solution, but none of them helps.

On VirtualBox 6.1.14 or so I just had to plug a USB-drive and to unmount it on the Linux host. Immediately after that
I could use the drive on the Windows guest.

I attach the the .log-files and the rest of the required information as .zip file.

Can you give me a hint, what I may look for?

Many thanks in advance!

I wouldn't bother struggling with USB. Just access the drive as a shared folder, like any other host storage.

I would also reduce CPU allocation in the VM to 2 cores. More cores is not good in a VM, unless the VM really uses them. Win10 generally runs best with 2.

Maybe enable 3D acceleration too, but disable transparency effects in the guest first.

If you really enjoy the USB contest then try the tutorial: USB Basics and Troubleshooting.

I followed your advice and all works well.

When I have some spare time, I will struggle with USB again
