My "main virtualbox interface" has no pin, and no Tools menu either. Perhaps a screenshot would have been useful.

In the VirtualBox Manager, you can scroll the list of VMs in the left pane (if you have more VMs than fit into the window, of course). The pin keeps the Tools entry from scrolling.

Ah, I see it now. I was looking for a menu item, not a column heading.
