Access EFI Boot Selector

Post by Ravi Joshi »

(mod edit: original title 'What makes 'start-up disk dialog box' appear?')

Host: Arch. Guest : Arch (EFI). Vbox : 6.1.22
I installed arch as guest, but grub was not installed properly, so the VM drops into GRUB> shell. I can't figure out how to boot the live CD - so I can go back and fix grub. Can someone please help?
While installing I saw a 'start up disk selector' dialog that allowed me to choose between CD and HDD. But I can't figure out how to make it appear.
Thanks.

While the VM is starting, beat a tattoo on the Esc key, that should get you into the EFI text boot manager, where you can get the boot selection up and pick the CD drive.

I changed the title to reflect the situation.

If you want to keep your ESC key intact, you can simply enter the exit command at the Shell> prompt. ;)
