VirtualBox Version 6.1.22 r144080 on Ubuntu 20.04

Newly installed, built the first Ubuntu 18 VM. I can view all setting for the new VM but cannot make any changes to the settings. Appears to be permissions issue. Where should I look first?

I assume your OK button to accept settings changes is grayed out.
First, the VM can't be running or saved-state when making settings changes.
Second, if the VM is fully shut down, in the Settings page next to the grayed-out OK button is a little icon showing an error. If you mouse over the icon, an error message will appear. Please let us know what the error message says.
