Here are a couple of new MEMDUMPs.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gd5IpC ... sp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qdXxHd ... sp=sharing

The first is a misalignment exception, but the second one may be interesting as it's of something else:

Code: Select all

Logs are inside the zip files.

Thank you both for the crash dumps. It may take a few days, since I'm building up my knowledge on low level Windows kernel debugging in my spare time.

Thank you for looking into this issue!

May I ask you what program are you using to read the dumps?

Of course. ;) I've been using WinDbg Preview so far, which is a modern version of the (in)famous WinDbg.

Here are my minidumps for your review fth0.
Thanks a lot for taking a look at it!

I also confirm that these VirtualBox Windows 10 guest os in crashes occur on a Dell XPS 13 9300 with intel i7-1065G7 CPU

Same hardware here and host OS is Linux Mint 20.1 - all the same problems with constantly rebooting Windows 10 and Linux Mint guest OS

So you're getting reboots with a Linux guest as well?
While not unexpected, I think this is new info.

Unfortunately the current version of VirtualBox is unusable on Linux with new Intel hardware.

Yes, just for the purpose of making some experiments I made a fresh installation of the same Mint 20.1 like the host as a guest OS. And the result was the same rebooting. I first suspected my Windows 10 guest guilty for rebooting, because it was exported from my old Sandy Bridge Laptop with VB 5.2 version where it worked perfectly for more than an year.

We're experiencing the same issue (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED / STATUS_DATATYPE_MISALIGNMENT) on a HP 15S-fq2091ns Intel Core i5-1135G7 laptop, running Ubuntu 20.04.2 with kernel 5.8.0-45-generic, VirtualBox 6.1.16_Ubuntu r140961 and a Windows 10 Pro guest.

We tested with VirtualBox "virtualbox-6.1_6.1.18-142142~Ubuntu~eoan_amd64.deb" with the same result. We tried running a 5.4 Linux kernel but the laptop doesn't boot.

Has anyone tested if this problem goes away running VirtualBox 6.1.18 on a 5.10 Linux kernel?

Similar problem here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=102225
I found a dozen of other posts that sound like this, but no solution.
This is really bad, as I have no other host machine to work with an older kernel or processor. Has anyone found a workaround until now?

Tested right now with VirtualBox 6.1.18 r142142 and Linux 5.10.25:

At this moment, no workaround is known.
If you have an Intel 10th gen (Ice Lake) or 11th gen (Tiger Lake) laptop CPU you'll eventually experience a crash with Windows 10 guests.
