Shared folder access error

Post by JMA92410 »

Hello Linux / Virtualbox experts
I have a Kubuntu 20.04 host, and a Windows 10 guest.
I have declared a shared folder named HDDWin in my VM and there is something strange about it.
When I launch my VM from VirtualBox, I get an error message stating the following :
The shared folder 'HDDWin' could not be set up : Shared folder path '/media/jma/HDDWin' does not exist on the host.
Error ID : BrokenSharedFolder
Severity : Warning
If previous to running Virtualbox I launch Dolphin and just select my HDDWin device so that its content is displayed, then I close Dolphin, everything is fine, I have access to my HDDWin shared folder within the Windows VM
There must be something wrong with the HDDWin file system. Do you have any idea what I can do ?
Just for info, I have a very superficial knowledge of Linux

First, be sure, that on your host it can be edited and used by users. If not, than do it. For me, it's the only option, that maybe should work. Another option is to download Virtualbox Guest additions on guest and after that share your folder. Let me know, worked it or not.
