[HELP!] Win10Pro-Guest: VBox just ends while trying to start guest os - what to do?

Post by Enkidu2 »

Hi,

I do not use my Win 10 guest very often. Last time, a couple of month ago.

And last time I used it, it was still working like expected.
Now, vbox just ends!? I see Windows boot logo for some seconds, then vbox is gone.

After a few tries, Windows starts with recovery screen. But even trying to start in safe mode has the same result.

Attached you can find my
VBox.log
(124.69 KiB) Downloaded 5 times
I use vbox on LinuxMint 20.3:

Code: Select all

VirtualBox VM 6.1.38 r153438 linux.amd64 (Sep 1 2022 14:50:01) release log
OS Product: Linux
OS Release: 5.4.0-125-generic
OS Version: #141-Ubuntu SMP Wed Aug 10 13:42:03 UTC 2022
DMI Product Name: HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4
My guest is Windows 10 Pro.

Any hint is very welcome.

Tnx,
Enkidu

You were not using 6.1.38 a couple of months ago! It was only released 2 weeks ago.

Try disabling USB support.

Also reduce CPU cores to 2: your host has 4 cores total, so obviously can't afford to dedicate all 4 to guest code.

Maybe I was not clear enough... I am using the guest image for a couple of years now. But not in the last few month.
Vbox is auto updated by repository.

Tnx very much! Now it started again.

Seems to be a cpu issue.

While re-enabling usb, it still started. :)
