I am not able to launch any of my Virtualbox guests after installing Ubuntu updates

Post by tampa911 »

I have Virtualbox installed and did my normal Ubuntu updates and now when I try to launch a virtual machine, I get an error that VT-x is disabled in the Bios. I have triple checked that it is enabled, did a full uninstall of virtual box (--purge) and manually removed the folders from .config, then reinstalled virtualbox and the extension packs, but continue to get this error. Any suggestions?

VT-x is disabled in the BIOS for all CPU modes (VERR_VMX_MSR_ALL_VMX_DISABLED).

The log seems to have been taken while a VM window was open, so not all diagnostic data may be available.

However, either an Ubuntu update enabled KVM on the host OS, or the computer's BIOS does not have its VT-X turned on, see I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests.
