VirtualBox 6.1.12 Critical error has occurred when reboot guest Windows

Post by Nakatoshi »

Hello!

I am running windows 10 (64bit) on a VirtualBox 6.1.12 on a host windows 10 (64bit).

It's fine to boot up and use it, but when I reboot the guest OS, I get a "critical error" where the boot screen appears.

This didn't happen before.
I upgraded to 6.1.12 to use it for the first time in a while, and this is the result.
(Unfortunately, I don't remember the last version that worked fine, but I'm sure it's the 6.x series.

Please help me.

Your English looks good to me. If you think you cannot use English well enough to explain your thoughts, please use your native language and we can try a translating website.

I looked at the log but I cannot find any issues. Forum experts will probably find something.

It appears that the guest has this error when the guest operating system is rebooted, but the error does not happen when the guest is shut down completely then restarted. Is this true?

Does this error happen every time the guest is rebooted?

Thanks.
I'm using DeepL and the dictionary to ask questions.

I've never experienced an error when I shut down guest OS completely and then start up again.

When rebooting from the restart menu of guest OS, errors occur about 90% of the time.
(I haven't counted it exactly...)
Unfortunately, I can't come up with a causal relationship between the presence or absence of errors and usage.

Thanks for the further information. I think we will need someone else to look at the log. I cannot find what the problem is.

The issue is an issue with the host Windows boot manager. The workaround is to just select "OK" from the error message box and let the virtual machine shut down. Then just start it again. This is exactly what reboot would have done.
