Windows 1903 Laptop freezing with no BSOD

Post by ghassanq »

Dears,

I tried Virtualbox 6.0.16 and 6.1.2 and now i am trying version 5
The brand new laptop lenovo yoga x390 freezes randomly when starting up/importing images into Vbox

I did replace SSD for testing same issue
reinstalled windows 10 1903 - same issue

No other issues on system
and not showing any BSOD

Let's start with a 'starting-up' guest that has problems, and see what can be done.

Start a guest from cold-start, not save-state. Run it until you see the problem. If you can shut the guest down using the guest's shut-down command, do so. If the guest has seized up, close the Virtualbox guest window, using the Power Off option.

Zip and post the guest's vbox.log using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

So it's the host that freezes? Virtualbox can stress physical hardware, sometimes simply by using more of it. Virtualbox does not normally freeze up the host PC, unless something is wrong with the host PC.

Since It's new I would report it and have the Lenovo people do some some CPU and memory stress tests on the laptop. Occasionally, new things have issues.
