Host: Windows 7 Pro - Guest: openSuSE 15.1: no two monitors

Post by guenni99 »

Hi guys,

I can't convince VB 6.0.14 to activate a second monitor for my openSuse 15.1 guest.
I've configured two monitors in the VB settings and the memory increased to 128 MB.

My first configuration:
  • Windows 7 Pro (incl. all updates till today)
  • AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
  • Mainboard Asrock 960GM/U3S3 (FX); using graphics on board
It also does not work on:
  • Windows 7 Pro (incl. all updates)
  • Intel Core I5 760
  • MS Media MS-7708- V1.2
  • Graphics: Geforce GT440
But it works on:
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • AMD Athlon 5350; using graphics on chip
  • Asrock AM1H-ITX
Does anybody have an idea?

Must I use a 5.x Version?

Best Regards and thx to all
Guenni

This apparently means that there's something about some of your computers that stops the second monitor, not necessarily a problem with Virtualbox.

Choose one host PC where the second monitor does not work. Start the guest with one monitor. Let it log in, then shut it down using the guest OS's shut-down command. Then set the guest to two monitors, start the guest and try to get the second monitor to appear. If the second monitor does not appear, shut down the guest again.

Zip and post four things: the first vbox.log, the vboxhardening.log, the second vbox.log.1, and the .vbox file from the guest's folder. Use the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
