[Solved] Win10 Slow/Hangs if Nvidia Optimus is not enabled

Post by iwl »

Hi group,

Virtual Box latest Version Windows 10 somehow does not work properly for me.
I have already uninstalled / reinstalled it.

The Clients often run slow even not much CPU / Disk Activity shown
and also whole Windows 10 Host is slowed down then.

After rebooting Windows with shutdown it gets better again for some time until worse again.

Is there something I can do, I think Task scheduling somehow gets bad from Virtual Box slowing whole system.

Does does the ... Player may be run better under Win 10 ?

It looks like NVidia Optimus must be enabled in BIOS.

I doubt somebody else would have guessed that whatsoever.

For the benefit of the rest of us... what exactly is "Nvidia Optimus", why is it in the BIOS, and how exactly did that make your guest "faster"?

Nvidia Optimus is the feature in notebooks with a Nvidia graphics chip in addition to the iGPU which allows applications to use the faster/better Nvidia GPU instead of the slower CPU integrated GPU.

Thanks Martin for that. Marking as [Solved]. And since I'm into the modifying mode, I'm going to change the title of the thread from "Win10 Slow/Hangs" to "Win10 Slow/Hangs if Nvidia Optimus is not enabled", it's less generic...
