Windows 10 Guest on Windows 10 Host: Audio hangs after Host screen off

Post by ElvinJ »

Hi,

I'm running VirtualBox v6.06 on a Windows 10 1809 Host, with a Windows 10 Guest (guest additions enabled). The reproducible problem is as follows:
  • Start playing audio on the Windows Guest
  • After the Windows Host screen sleeps, there is a limited amount of time to wake the host up before the audio "breaks" - a loop of 0.25 seconds (approx) carries on playing until the guest is paused and powered off.
Please find the relevant output from the zipped VBox.log and VBoxHardening.log files. Any help appreciated. Around about the time that the audio fails, VBox.log shows the following:
00:25:09.583246 Audio: Device configuration of driver 'DSoundAudio' has changed
00:25:09.783844 Audio: Device configuration of driver 'DSoundAudio' has changed
00:25:09.802422 Audio: Device configuration of driver 'DSoundAudio' has changed
00:25:09.819248 Audio: Device configuration of driver 'DSoundAudio' has changed
Host Audio driver is the latest version for my model- Realtek Audio 6.0.1.8569

Any help appreciated.

Hi all,

A bump here; I've noticed a few views, a couple of downloads of the VBox.log, but no comment. Please can

- I provide any more detail, or try anything else? For example, a trial of VMware Workstation Pro with a Windows 10 guest doesn't exhibit this issue
- someone tell me if this is known, and is already on the bug list?
- I raise a bug report more formally if this is an issue?

Thanks
