I didn't say to try with a different Host, I said with a different guest for a start.
Here's my personal issue; my most used VM (Win7-32) seems to now crash when I update the GAs, with ONLY the development builds. I tried it on a new Win7-32 VM and it works fine. Which means that something is definitely wrong with my original VM! Do I blame VirtualBox? Of course not, because it's not reproducible. There's something wrong with the original Win7-32.
Just as real computer can get "corrupted", so do virtual ones. That doesn't make it a VirtualBox problem. Just because an OS/program that runs in the context of VirtualBox has a problem, it doesn't make it a VirtualBox problem necessarily. Sometimes you have to treat the problems as a native one with the OS or the application of the guest.
