[Solved] A critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine

Post by Alpakal »

Trying to run Windows XP SP3 on VirtualBox 5.2.22 (host Windows 10 enterprise 10.0.16299) but it keeps showing this error>
A critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped.
during start of system on guest. I can run guest's in save mode, but there is no hint in system logs.
Log is attached
Thanks

How long has this XP image worked as a VirtualBox VM?

Anyway, it will be a driver crash, that's why it runs in safe mode. You need to identify the driver and eliminate it.

Thanks for your reply. Image worked for one day. Do you mean drivers on host or guest? Did log file help to identify the error?

SOLVED
Oh, it works know. The problem was disabled option of the virtualization in the BIOS of host. I had turned on before, but the host pc had weak battery on mother board, so it did not keep the BIOS settings. I changed battery, set up virtualization in the BIOS and now it works as charm.

I was about to reply to you, but it seems you found the answer already... ;)

Glad you got it going. Marking as [Solved].
