migrate to windows 10 from windows 7
migrate to windows 10 from windows 7
I have a number of virtual machine files that were created from VB running under a Windows 7 host. Now, I've had to bring up a new machine under Windows 10, and wonder how I can migrate those virtual machines and disk drives over to VB running under Windows 10.

See the FAQ: Moving a VM.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

I did what the FAQ describes, but the virtual machine will not run in VB under Windows 10. I wondered whether there's some difference in vbox files that were created in VB running under a Windows 7 host and VB running under a Windows 10 host. Error message is shown below:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine XP.
cpum#1: "CPU model" mismatch: host=0x9e saved=0x2a [ver=17 pass=final] (VERR_SSM_LOAD_CPUID_MISMATCH).

Saved state information is not portable. You need to discard it (right click VM in manager, discard saved state).
