VM inaccessible - how to repair

mpack and I had a debate on another topic about this whole issue of snapshot functionality. I use them a lot in my development cycles, whereas he would prefer a template base cloning model. What we both agree about is that the current functionality cries out for extending. Maybe this is one area where a completely standalone utility (as VMware does it) to handle offline processing of VDIs, their backup deltaing, etc. I have a number of Perl scripts that I use to do this sort of stuff myself, but they are really too quick and dirty to publish in their current form.

I have dumped most of my knowledge on the internals of VDIs in my tutorial All about VDIs.

I wasn't going to be the one to point it out.. :-)

But, I hope someone is noticing how often the Qs in these forums boil down to the current snapshot model not matching user expectations.
