I am trying to get this working on a a rented VPS
So I am Nesting VB on VMWare
I am new to VLan tagging
VMWare is using (I think) trunked VLan Tagging
VMware guest is Win2008 r2 and I am running Virtualbox 5.2.16 on it with two guests
VB Guest 1 PFSense with 2 nics one is a bridged adapter the other is a internal network
VB Guest 2 2008R2 with 1 nic on the internal network
In test environment Win7 Host (No VMWare or VLan tagging) everything works.
Moved to live environment and all internet traffic stops working
But I can ping from the VMWare guest (2008 r2) to VB pfsense and to VB 2008r2 and from VB pfsense to VMware Guest
Can open a browser from VMWare guest and open a site on the VB 2008r2 server
Originally VMware was configured to tag all traffic from the VM guest intel pro/1000 as vlan5
Tried having pfsense do the vlan tagging
have currently updated intel drivers on VM Guest and have the VM guest NIC doing the vlan tagging
Attached is the vbox.log from the pfsense
Not sure what to try now.
Any suggestions?

Re: Bridged network not working to internet
I'll cut to the chase; nesting virtualization is not supported at this moment.jmanatee wrote:So I am Nesting VB on VMWare
And VLAN tagging has its own set of problems. See for example viewtopic.php?f=8&t=80965

Good for you. Still the answer stands; it's not supported.jmanatee wrote:I have done nested virtualization many times in the past with out issue,

Re: Bridged network not working to internet
I guess nobody does unsupported things with Virtualbox?
Maybe somebody could give a clue as to where to look to make this work...

Make what work? What are you trying to do? You did not ever tell us what the aim of this exercise was.
