Virtualbox sees my Blu-Ray drive as a CD.

Post by The Silver Fox »

Forgive me if this has already been posted but I couldn't find any reference to it using Search.

As the Subject states, my Blu-Ray drive is seen as a CD. I need it to be a Blu-Ray drive. How do I accomplish this?

You virtual machine works with virtual hardware, not with your real hardware.

If your Blu-Ray is built-in, the only thing you could try (which I doubt it will work) would be to enable the passthrough mode in the CD settings. I really, really doubt that this is going to work, I believe it's geared towards other capabilities.

If it's an external USB-based one, you could pass it through to your guest.
