If you assign a device to the VM then the host can't continue to use it. That's USB, it's not a sharing protocol. A device can't be plugged into two PCs at the same time.

If the problem is that the wrong devices are being grabbed then make sure any USB filter is specific enough to match the right device.

p.s. I notice that you haven't installed the extension pack, which explains why you can't use USB2 or better to work inside the VM. See section 1.5 of the user manual.

Thanks for replying. I installed the extensions. I had been having problems with my USB mouse that is now solved.

However, I cant access a USB stick in the guest, eventhough it shows up in the Devices list.

Also, when I shut down the guestyesterday, it cause a blue screen on the host.

A new log file is attached. Thanks

Probably because you haven't yet enabled either USB2 or USB3 in the VM settings. You created the VM before you installed the extension pack, so naturally none of the extension pack features were enabled by default in the VM. In any case you might want to consider accessing flash drives as shared folders, it's usually much simpler.

I also notice the following in your new log:
VBox.log wrote: 00:00:06.298269 Host RAM: 2003MB total, 752MB available
...
00:00:06.638851 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000030000000 (805 306 368, 768 MB)
00:00:06.639337 VRamSize <integer> = 0x0000000001000000 (16 777 216, 16 MB)
I'm surprised this even boots. You've over committed host RAM, and graphics performance will be crippled by that low graphics RAM figure (the VM setting dialog must surely be complaining about invalid settings detected?). You certainly need to reduce the VM RAM to 640MB say, but I'd then increase graphics RAM to 36MB.

Frankly, this PC not a good choice for running two Windows OS's at the same time.

Finally, bear in mind that VirtualBox 5.2.6 is not support on XP hosts. That doesn't mean we guarantee that it won't run, it means that nobody guarantees that it will, or will care much either way.
