Whenever I install guest additions on Kali my performance slows down. I'll open firefox and it will freeze up the entire VM for like 15-20 seconds. Has anybody encountered this before?
It runs fine without installing guest additions, but I would prefer to use it with a higher resolution.
If anybody can help me with this, it would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
I attached part of the settings log. Not sure if that can help or not. Pretty standard setup. I followed what most guides say on how to setup kali with VBox.

Re: Kali Linux runs very slow after installing guest additions
Thanks for the log, but it would be better if it was zipped.
Do you still have a problem if you disable 3D acceleration?
Your host has Intel graphics: Intel are not famed for the quality of their OpenGL implementation, which is where guest 3D is routed.
On a side note, I see you have a quad core host and you've assigned all four cores to the VM. That is not good, it means the host must context switch to get any CPU at all, this could easily account for the performance problems. I would assign no more than 2 cores to the VM.
Otherwise the configuration looks good. Remember to eject the Kali install ISO.

And i don't see the need of 3d for Kali.
