Problem to extend a dynamic VDI

Post by Philby250 »

Hi there,

I wanted to extend my vdi (which format variant is Dynamic default) from 40 to 50 GB.
So I my launching (in an elevated command box) the follwing command from the directory where my vdi is located

vboxmanage modifyhd name.vdi --resize 51200

And I am getting the following error:
VBoxManage.exe : error: Error Attempt to reszie the medium from 0.0 MB to 51200.0 MB. Use -resizebyte if this is intended.

When using the showmediuminfo (see attached screnshot) on the vdi file, capacity is correctly shown as 40960 Mbytes.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Philippe

Thanks for your reply.
I am on version 5.1.14. Not that old. I'll try to update to the latest release release.
