Latest Windows update (4/1) breaks VirtualBox ??

Post by ranchupanchu »

Hello,

1-2 days ago there was a windows update in my computer:
windows 10 pro
intel's i5 6440hq cpu
64-bit

Trying to open virtualbox(currently 5.0.32 is installed) machine now fails as following (As a matter of fact all of my guests now fails to start):

The virtual machine 'ubuntu32' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'C:\Users\ransh\VirtualBox VMs\ubuntu32\Logs\VBoxHardening.log'.

Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component:
MachineWrap
Interface:
IMachine {f30138d4-e5ea-4b3a-8858-a059de4c93fd}

I then tried to read the log, and it talks about cache hit, and I can't understand from log what's the real problem.
Trying to install newer VB version did not help .
The log can be found here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1A-b8ZG ... sp=sharing

I've got about tens of security updates, not sure where to start, should I start removing all of this tons of updates from 5/1 ? :(
Is there any idea what's wrong ?

Thank you,
Ran

Please zip logs and attach locally. Most of us prefer not to have to go to external file storage sites.

Hi mpack,

The issue been resolved as I mentioned in 2nd post.

Yes, I was aware that you had already found a workaround. If you read my post again you should find that it is not affected by this fact.

What security updates for Windows 10 have you seen since 4th January? I am not aware of any. The 4th January update did not do anything to affect VirtualBox on my setup.

The details of the update are here. https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/hel ... -kb4056892

If you are concerned about the security vulnerabilities, click the Security Upgrade Guide link in that article.
