Please post a new zip file, containing the current VBox.log file, the current .vbox file, and a directory listing of the VM directory with its subdirectories, so that we can see the current state as a whole.

scottgus1 wrote:Reboot the host PC so no Virtualbox processes are running.
Viel Erfolg! :)

The FlowFact.vbox file still contains the definition of the parallel port, which means that you failed to replace the file. Either you didn't follow scottgus1's instructions closely enough, or the instructions didn't fit well enough to your situation. The crucial part of the instructions is the following:
scottgus1 wrote:Reboot the host PC so no Virtualbox processes are running.
Only when the VirtualBox process VBoxSVC is not running, you can replace the file persistently, because otherwise VirtualBox will overwrite its content later on. If you followed this part of the instructions, perhaps your host is configured to automatically start a VirtualBox process during the system startup. Then that VirtualBox process will automatically start VBoxSVC (this is a weakness of the instructions given). With that knowledge, you can try to replace the file again with the one from scottgus1. Good luck! :)

Hallo,

What do the serial ports have to do with this problem?

I repeat my question. LPT1 and LPT3 are not serial ports, they cannot be configured in the serial ports section.

Thanks, fth0 & Mpack for joining in!

Andre, as Mpack points out, serial and parallel are two different kinds of ports. Activating the serial ports of the VM will not help to activate the parallel port.

However, you should not need to use the parallel port. Since you can share the printer from the host:
André Lieske wrote:Are you able to share the printer onto the network? yes
and the VM is getting the correct Ip address from Bridged:
XP's ipconfig.txt wrote:Microsoft Windows XP
...
Ethernetadapter LAN-Verbindung 3:
IP-Adresse. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.151
Host's ipconfig.txt wrote: IPv4-Adresse . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.133(Bevorzugt)
It appears you have solid network between host and VM. (you can check this by pinging the VM and the host from each other, web-search how to activate ping (ICMP Echo Request) in each OS's firewall).

So you can access the host's shared printer through the VM's network. Use normal XP methods to access the shared printer and install drivers for it in XP.

I strongly recommend using the shared printer and don't try to access through the parallel port. Trying to use the parallel port seems to break your VM.

FWIW, in the initial post, the OP was writing about multiple printers, but did not state if they used parallel or serial interfaces. So maybe ... ;)

Parallel ports can't be shared. Either the host OS owns the port or the guest OS does. If the guest OS has the parallel port then the host OS (and other VMs) will lose the use of it.

This is not the same as saying that the printer cannot be shared - it can, but only if you leave ownership of the parallel port with the host OS.
