Hello all,
Since yesterday I've been having issues with connecting USB devices to VirtualBox.
Host: Windows 10 Home
Guest: Kali Linux
I don't know the exact cause of the problem as I updated windows (Fall creators update) as well as VirtualBox (5.2.0 -> 5.2.2)
(Fall creators update also broke my bluetooth module, so it is the most likely cause?)
All I currently know is that it was working before both updates and now it isn't.
I've found a lot of fixes online for ubuntu hosts, to add vboxusers, but is there a fix like this for windows?
Or is it another problem all together?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: VirtualBox does not detect any USB devices
Did you reinstall the host extension pack since updating VirtualBox? USB 2/3 will not work without this.
Re: VirtualBox does not detect any USB devices

Re: VirtualBox does not detect any USB devices
Can you please elaborate on that? What's wrong with your Bluetooth? And I assume VirtualBox is not even involved in that, right?MerlijnF wrote:Fall creators update also broke my bluetooth module, so it is the most likely cause?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Re: VirtualBox does not detect any USB devices
I don't think it's the same issue, just pointing out that creators update broke other things, so it might have broken that too.
Device manager showed that bluetooth module was disabled by windows (error code 43)
Bluetooth didn't show up anywhere in windows anymore, except device manager.
uninstalling the device, deleting the driver and reinstalling fixed that issue

I would much rather see a log file than accept assertions. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.MerlijnF wrote:yes I updated the extention pack I already had

Log file attached for Kali machine
However it's the same for all 3 VMs I have. In the settings tab I can't add any USB devices

Re: VirtualBox does not detect any USB devices
No problems jump out at me from the log. I do see certification issues with NVidia DLLs which will possibly stop 3D acceleration from working, but I see nothing wrong with the USB config.
Let's return to the opening post. Can you clarify that you upgraded VirtualBox to 5.2.2 after the Windows 10 1709 update?
In fact belay that. Could you please just uninstall and then install VirtualBox 5.2.2 again, making very sure to use "Run as administrator" to run the installer, and make sure that USB support is ticked in the install options. After that you have to install the ExtPack again too.

Re: VirtualBox does not detect any USB devices
So yes, sorry about all the confusion, the windows issues were completely unrelated and I made a mistake.
I ran setup again, marked USB support and everything is working.
Thanks for your help
