over the Xmas break is to pick up a project .... this year, mine is to have a crack at creating a slipstream disk to install w10 on my w7 machine. In my travels have seen what would appear a sterling suggestion, namely to test the disk by running it in a VM ... intend to include hardware drivers in the disk, but how would that work, presumably the VM created, would default to using the W7 drivers? ....... so would the driver element of my disk not be tested??? ..... NB as regards my level of expertise i'm very much an enthusiastic amateur .... look forward to hearing from you ..... Alan D Kerr

The only drivers exercised by a VM are the drivers which are needed to use the VM hardware. There is no practical way to test physical drivers in a VM (other than USB device drivers), if VirtualBox doesn't provide a simulation of the exact hardware.
