Can't get 1920x1080 res on virtual box

Post by jehuey »

As the title says, I can't seem to get my virtualbox the same res as the host. It seems to default into 960ish resolution and the highest it can go is 1024x768. Also, when I enable 3D acceleration, the screen would shrink into this tiny resolution at the top left of the VM. It's hard to explain and I will post screenshot later.

I have tried a bunch of Google and forum answers including installing Guest additions, re-installing the VM, the OS and guest addition, editing the Custom Video Model through command line and increasing video memory to 256MB and enabling 3D acceleration. I'm not really sure what else to do and I'm fairly new to Virtual Machines.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: I can now select a higher res up to 1920x1440 but once I select that, or the 1600x resolution, my screen won't automatically resize even though "auto-resize guest display" is enabled.

I've got the same problem. What did you do to enable you to select a higher resolution?
