virtualbox on windows 7 hover preview dual monitors are reversed

On a windows 7 host with windows 7 guests, where there is a dual monitor config (host and guest) I frequently find that the hover preview tiles (I think that's what the tiles the pop up down in the taskbar area are called) get reversed. The guest's monitor 1 will end up on the right, monitor 2 on the left. If I activate either window, the actual window appears where it is supposed to.

I've had this issue for years. I stay with the release version of vbox. The sessions always start out with the correct orientation, and at some point for whatever reason, the hover preview monitors sides switch. Anyone know why this happens? I wonder if it's a fault with taskbar hover preview and not so much virtual box; now that I've written this out, I think I recall that on some occasions other two monitor applications switch hover preview sides, but I'm not certain.
