USB sticks no longer show up

Post by WilliamP »

After upgrading to 5.1.26, USB sticks no longer show up in the guest VM (both Windows 10 and Ubuntu Linux). If I hover the mouse on the USB stick, it says it's "captured". But, there is no "check" mark that I used to see before. If I try to attach again, I get error message
Failed to attach the USB device ADATA USB Flash Drive [1100] to the virtual machine Ubuntu.

USB device 'ADATA ADATA USB Flash Drive' with UUID {ba8ef915-3f5b-47d3-a1e5-657c68b745b8} is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.

Result Code: E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057)
Component: HostUSBDeviceWrap
Interface: IHostUSBDevice {c19073dd-cc7b-431b-98b2-951fda8eab89}
Callee: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}
After this, USB sticks doesn't work, even if I reinstall 5.1.24, 5.1.22, and 5.1.20.

Here are results of commands from "USB basics and troubleshooting":

You do not have a filter installed, you're trying the on-the-fly capturing, which is more fragile. Plus you have to eject it first from your host to be sure that it will work as it should. Please read carefully and thoroughly the appropriate posts in USB basics and troubleshooting.

Sorry about the formatting. It was my first post.

- I created USB filter.
- Unplugged USB stick.
- Plugged it back.
- Started VirtualBox. -- USB icon in Windows host disappears (OK). Hovering the on the USB stick line, "Status: captured" (OK). But, it doesn't show up in Ubuntu guest, and there is no "check mark" that I used to see.

Frustrating thing is that it used to work, before 5.1.26.

I'm sorry, you have to read the directions again. That's *not* what the recipe talks about. Read it again carefully.
