NESTED Virtualization

Post by 71Skyrave »

Hi People,

I have an environment system as follows:

Host System:
O.S: Windows 10 Pro (x64)
CPU: Intel i5-2520M @ 2.50Ghz
RAM: 8 Gbs
VirtrualBox: 5.1.24-117012
VirtualBox ExtensionPack: 5.1.24-117012

I run a VirtualBox (within the Host) Windows 2012 x64 environment (Guest 1).
The VirtualBox System tab for the Windows 2012 virtualization is as follows:
Paravirtualization: Default
HW virtualization VT-X/AMD-V (powered on)

What I need is to be able to run a NEW x64 virtual machine (O.S. Linux) inside the virtual guest 1, windows 2012 environment.
This is known as NESTED Virtualization.

Is it possible?
What should I do (step by step) to get the goal of NESTED x64 Virtualization as follows: Host (x64) Windows 10 + Guest 1 (x64) Windows 2012 + Guest 2 (x64) Linux.

Nested virtualization is not supported at the moment. VT-x does not get through to the guest, so at the most you could have a 32-bit guest only, but as I said, even that is not supported.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
