[Solved] No "Insert Guest Additions CD image" on XP guest

Post by Mike D »

Host is new Win10. VB is 5.1.22 w/ Ext Pack 5.1.22 installed.
Trying to share a folder from Win10 into XP.
XP guest is up and running. Under the Devices menu there is no "Insert Guest Additions CD image" but I read there should be and I need to run that to get the shared folders to work.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
Mike

Assuming that this specific menu item is not there, then go to the VM Settings » User Interface and look at the Devices drop-down menu. Is the GAs CD enabled? If not, please enable it.

That was it. Not only did I get GA installed but I now see my share.
Thank you!

The question you should ask yourself is why was it disabled in the first place.
In any event, marking as [Solved].
