Just to be absolutely certain that we know what you mean, you are saying that the manager fails to start? Not that some VM fails to start?

If yes, then I assume there is something wrong with your host: if the problem was in VirtualBox then lots of other people would be reporting the same thing.

Is this a new VirtualBox install or was it previously working?

Try uninstalling then complete host reboot, then reinstalling by right-clicking the Virtualbox installer program and choose "Run As Administrator" from the right-click menu, even if your account is an administrator account. (Note that "right-click-Run-As-Administrator" is not "log-off-log-back-on-as-Administrator-double-click", and it is not "I'm-already-an-Administrator-so-I-don't-have-to". Running the installer with a usual double-click under an Admin account will still not give you the necessary permissions.)

nothing changed
I uninstalled, rebooted, installed-as-administrator
Now when I'm simply run app, it outputs same error with crypt32
If I run it as administrator, it outputs "The stub received bad data"

P.S. I already did sfc /scannow and .../Restorehealth commands not long ago with some windows problem, maybe it still there

"The stub received bad data" is a known Windows problem, nothing to do with VirtualBox.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... d-bad-data

"sfc /scannow" will not fix this because you are not suffering from corruption, you have exceeded some kind of service limit. E.g. perhaps you've installed 20 different network card filtering apps - I don't know. It's really Microsoft you should ask about that.

I have the same problem. Clicking on the Virtualbox application causes the little circle to spin for 5 seconds, then nothing. I am running Windows 10.0.15063 Build 15063. Virtualbox worked great on this machine for over a year. The last time I ran Virtualbox was 03/2017. Today, 06/2017, Virtualbox 5.0.2 did not launch. Who knows how many times Windows has upgrading since then. I have tried upgrading Virtualbox to 5.1.0. I have unintalled it, restarted Windows with the driver signature enforcement disabled, and reinstalled Virtualbox 5.1.0. The data from event viewer shows roughly the same errors.

Faulting application name: VirtualBox.exe, version: 5.1.10.12026, time stamp: 0x58332496
Faulting module name: VirtualBox.exe, version: 5.1.10.12026, time stamp: 0x58332496
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000000013a2d
Faulting process id: 0x1c4c
Faulting application start time: 0x01d2f0388c3796b3
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VirtualBox.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VirtualBox.exe
Report Id: 66c7bfd0-6217-4701-a7b3-bdac00fad678

Is there a workaround or patch? Thank you.

For one thing I don't see mention of "crypt32.dll" in your error message, so I believe you may not have "exactly" the same problem. Best to start your own thread & not hijack the OP's.

As for patch or workaround, don't run 5.1.0, that's way too old. Try with 5.1.22, and remember, to install Virtualbox properly you must right-click the Virtualbox installer program and choose "Run As Administrator" from the right-click menu, even if your account is an administrator account.

Thanks for the advice. 5.1.22 worked for me. Thearhar, have you resolved your issue? Sorry to have stepped into the middle of your conversation.

No, I havent, but it seams to be MS problem, I installed pci-e x4 wifi card, and it is not clean windows 10, it upgraded from 7, so who knows. I just gonna install linux nearby and use it there.
