Host Only / TFTP / PXE Boot

Post by Taylor1892 »

Hi,

I use VirtualBox on Windows 10.
I'm messing around with pxeboot / tftp.

Is it possible to have a VM with a host only adapter running dhcp and tftp servers (aka cobbler!) and have another VM with the same host only adapter pxeboot?
When I power on the 2nd VM it picks up a dhcp assigned address but tftp times out. (Tried with a few live cds running tftp services also)

I can pxeboot when I run the tftp / dhcp services on the Windows 10 Host.

Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Thanks,
CT

Not certain about the pxe-boot & tftp in dhcp stuff, but Host-Only is a private connection between the host and all guests attached. Each guest on the Host-Only network should be able to get access to all the other guests and the host, provided there are no firewalls etc. getting in the way.

FWIW, servers usually have static IP's so clients know where to look. Maybe your guest tftp pxe server needs a static IP address/
