Re: Not able to start any VM from my Virtual Box
The screenshot is not that useful at this point:
- Follow a "start the VM from cold-boot"/"observe error"/"shutdown the VM" cycle.
- With the VM shut down completely (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
- Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response (see the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form).
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Re: Not able to start any VM from my Virtual Box
I'm not seeing any indication of that error in the provided log. I see a relatively normal boot, the Guest Additions version (4.3.6) is reported (meaning it got far enough into the boot to launch the GAs), then I see a shutdown at 3m47s.
I take it that the error is detected by the guest, not the VM?
Btw, stop increasing the RAM: You only have 5GB available and 2GB for the VM ought to be plenty for a first pass.

Re: Not able to start any VM from my Virtual Box
One other minor point:
If the VM is a CentOS one, you should also change the template to "RedHat 64".00:00:06.140119 Guest OS type: 'Linux_64'

Hi Socratis,
Thank you for your response.
I have changed the OS type to RedHat and waited for 15+ minutes after switching On the VM,still facing the same issue.
Attaching the new log.
Thank you for your time.

Re: Not able to start any VM from my Virtual Box
What your original screen shot shows is a guest OS soft lockup bug. Reading the log files VirtualBox is happy at this point and shows no real indications there is an issue of sorts which is correct if this is a guest bug.
I also see that the guest was pre-configured with a very old version of VirtualBox and has the guest additions install:
So the question is where did you get this guest, was it for hadoop testing? If so did you download and follow their instructions?
I also see that the guest was pre-configured with a very old version of VirtualBox and has the guest additions install:
Code: Select all
