Attaching external drive as HDD

I am looking to attached external drive and use as HDD for non-prority data such as archiving, blockchains, etc.

I have noticed that when i try to mount external drive as shared folder it will not let me select the drive to instal programs. I would assume either because its attached as shared folder or because its an external drive.

how do i add external rive in storage area of virtual box. thanks for the help. sure this is linked somewhere..

Bad premise.

Why would you want to install programs on a secondary drive?? ... Don't.

Install the programs on the normal drive. Put their data on the secondary drive.
