VirtualBox and audiodg.exe memory leak

Post by Asper »

Hi,
I am using VirtualBox 5.1.12 r112440
Host OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit
Guest OS: Windows 7 Pro 32bit

audiodg.exe, on the Host OS, starts to increase its memory as soon as the Guest OS boots.
In few hours the amount of memory used by audiodg.exe reaches value of 5 GB or more, and I have to shut down the virtual machine and the VirtualBox.
In the Guest OS I use only a remote desktop through a VPN.

audiodg.exe decreases its memory as soon as the Guest OS shuts down, and it returns to normal value of few kB.

Googeling I have found the suggestion to disable the audio enhancement on the Host OS, but this don't solve the problem.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks for your help!

audiodg.exe is a Windows file. It could be a strange combination of your sound card drivers or extra sound card bloatware and Virtualbox. See if there's new drivers out there. If it's possible to install just the drivers without the add-on program try that first. See if the memory leak happens. If not, add the bloatware and see what happens.

This issue is reported out of Virtualbox context https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 97e6377bee also https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... erver-2008 and https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lib ... ntial.aspx
It doesn't happen a lot, according to forum posts. (Links found Binging "audiodg.exe")
