WinXP Host, Win 2003 VM: Help bridging network LAN

Post by RobA »

Hi All,

So far I am loving VirtualBox, but hope you can advise me where I am going wrong with the networking.

My host PC is a Dell Laptop with a Wifi adapter, now my IP address and subnet changes depending where I am, and sometimes I wnt actually be connected to any WiFi network.

My VM is windows 2003 server.

If I set the network as NAT I can access the internet from the VM ;o)

What I want to achieve is having the same subnet on my VM as my host, and if possible using a loopback adapter on the host, so even If I am not connected to any real network on my host I can still communicate to with the VM and vice versa.

I read and tried lots of different things but am totally stuck, please an anybody help?

Thanks

Rob

Bridging does not work with wifi. Either use your LAN adapter for the bridge, or set up Internet Connection Sharing to the VBox adapter.
