I have VB 5.0.26 running with a Windows 7 guest.
SAS-Port 0: windows7-disk1.vmdk (normal,80,03GB)
SAS-Port 1: [DVD]VBoxGuestAdditions.iso(55,54MB)
SAS-Port 2: [DVD]ubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso(1,41GB)
I can boot into Windows 7 fine but how can I choose to boot into the Ubuntu Live CD?
I tried to hit F12 at Windows Boot time and the boot load also exits into the Boot medium choice
but when I choose to boot CD it says "no bootable medium found or some such
Help appreciated,
Christoph

Re: boot into Linux live CD from Windows boot (F12)
Why not simply create a new vm with a 64-bit Linux profile, release the guest additions, allocate the ubuntu ISO to port1 and boot the new vm.

Is the DVD bootable to begin with? Did you check? Did you verify the checksums?Krischu wrote:when I choose to boot CD it says "no bootable medium found or some such
Oh, and please be more precise next time. "or some such" is not that ... helpful.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Thanks. Got it working. Removed the first CD SAS-Port 1: VboxGuestAdditions.iso and then it booted. Immediately the CD though.socratis wrote:Is the DVD bootable to begin with? Did you check? I would have expected that it prefers to boot the Windows vmdk
Anyway. It works.
