Resizing doesn't work after last Win 10 service Pack

Post by VirtualAndy »

hi,

anyone else had re-sizing issues after the recent windows 10 service pack ?

i loaded up my VM this morning to be greeted with a "this box has to restart to complete installation".

i restarted the box.

and now my VM no longer changes it's desktop resolution when i resize the VM window.

used to work without any issues.

now the max resolution i can go up to on a 1080 monitor is 1596 x 909.

i've tried host key + G to toggle this option on/off. makes no difference.

i have have guest additions installed - i tried re-installing; this made no difference.

any tips would be greatly appreciated. this is quite annoying.

thanks

Andy

Please read the following: Minimum information needed for assistance.

Specifically for the VM log file ("VBox.log.zip"), here's what you do:
  1. Start the VM. Not from a saved or suspended state. Clean start.
  2. Take the steps required to generate/observe the error. Post a screenshot, if you have to.
  3. Shut down the VM. Not suspended, not paused. Shut down. If you can't shut it down by normal means, close the VM window and select "Power off".
  4. Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager.
  5. Select "Show Log..."
  6. Save it (just the first log, VBox.log), ZIP it and attach it in your response (see the "Upload attachment" at the bottom of the form).
On top of that, we'd like to see the "recipe" of the VM, the ".vbox" file:
  1. Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager.
  2. Select "Show in Explorer".
  3. ZIP the selected ".vbox" file and attach it in your response.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

many apologies.

i've added everything in the attached ZIP file.

in the VM, i attempted to put it into full-screen mode. as you can see in the screenshot, it just remains at it's current resolution as opposed to re-sizing to fit the whole screen. this used to work perfectly after i installed guest additions.

many thanks

In the GUI, what is File|Preferences|Display|"Maximum Guest Screen Size" set to?

it's set to automatic.
i've tried the other options (none, hint - set to 1920x1080).
nothing, it still won't resize. still stuck on 1596 x 909.
thanks.

Try the latest development guest additions build (108966 or newer), on the testbuilds page
