I updated to 5.0, and noticed that sending ctl alt del to the guest is more steps than it used to be for some unfortunate reason. Today I did the update to 5.0.10 and after it was done tried experimenting with finding a way to make it simple again. I found a 'menu' setting in the menu that appears above guest windows and changed it's setting, hoping to have the old option appear. Now that top menu is completely gone and it's impossible to log in to any vm. I have spent about an hour screwing around with google trying to find out how to restore it and found nothing, mostly refs to home c and ctl c which various people say will recover from a full screen mode. Neither of those make any change for me.
Can someone give me a clue how to fix this?
So far the most feature breaking update I've been through in with vbox, 5.x I mean.
How to turn on the menu which appears at the top of guest?

Re: How to turn on the menu which appears at the top of gues
Can someone please help with this issue.
host c and host l don't change the missing menu. The taskbar ought to have a control point for the menu, but it doesn't. I don't find a way to manage this in settings.

Re: How to turn on the menu which appears at the top of gues
I finally located the area where the menu can be managed. In Settings, User Interface, there are checkboxes in the menu bar at the top and in the status bar at the bottom, and the checkboxes make the menu or status bar appear.

It's even easier: When you run the VM, press HostKey+Pos1. This will show the menu bar which you can used to re-enable the menu bar.

For US keyboard users (non-German keyboard), the Pos1 key is the Home key.
Right-Ctrl Home (or Right-Ctrl Pos1) is the "Host" key.
So, right-Ctrl Home on the VirtualBox session console gives you a popup menu.
Then, to restore the VirtualBox Menu Bar, go to
--> View --> Menu Bar --> Show Menu Bar
If you have a Menu Bar enabled, you can disable it by clicking : View --> Menu Bar --> Show Menu Bar
Also, View --> Menu Bar --> Menu Bar Settings
allows one to add or remove settings from each of the pull down menus in the Menu Bar (I just checked all that were not checked)
