USB Audio for VOIP phone- somewhat "choppy"

Post by cybergenesis »

Hi. Firstly the general performance I am getting with my Virtual Box is outstanding.

I have sort of made a portable Windows XP guest system. Because I change computers a fair bit, its useful to have one main portable guest which I want to be able to do most my day to day stuff from! I've just had my computer and windows stuff up so many times I like the idea of having a portable system I can easily back up, and get up and working in a breeze!

One problem though is I have a USB voip phone (I also have an ATA but it sits in a draw, I'm happy with the voip phone). It works but the audio is a little choppy. This make it undesirable to use, so causes me to keep having to jump out to the host to get clear calls. At the moment, this is the only the reason I generally have to leave the guest!

Is there anything I can do to improve this? Any setting or trick or tips?

I am using the host networking option, could that be causing any problems with transferring the sip data? Or is it more likely to be related to how virtual box handles usb?
