I have troube xp host ,gentoo guest. resolution 1920x1200 guest additions seem to work, screen resize work,seamless,fullscreen.
problem- in full screen mode i get space at bottom of screen where. (where xp tool bar is)
problem- in seamless, guest gnome tool bar will not rest at top or bottom of screen. always leaves space. So I check guest resolution is 1920x1104 or something. One time I was able to edit xorg.conf and set 1920x1200 and all worked well. but it seems I can't recreate that fix, because virtualbox driver is in control of X.

** Solved***
(seemed problem may have been caused by windowsblinds on xp host. I uninstalled windowsblind Problem resolved for now. )
