I was installing Xamarin Android Player which is an Android Emulator toolset. It had as a pre-requisite Virtual Box. After the install and still after uninstall of Virtual Box I am not able to use any VPN clients including the built in Windows VPN client. I can no longer VPN into client networks from this machine.
In addition, I found out that Microsoft has a Hyper-V based Android Emulator. Unfortunately on this computer the Visual Studio Emulator is also unable to function properly do to network software issues. I installed this just this morning hoping to get around what Virtual Box did to the machine.
Any guidance at all about what I can do to get the network software fully functional again?

You can try Sysinternals Autoruns and disable all vbox drivers, if any left, and then reboot:
